The project
In 2022, Fugong Leathercraft Intangible Cultural Heritage Center was invited by Louis Vuitton and VOGUE China to participate in the “Preserving Craftsmanship” project. He Wei and Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière developed the work over six months.
Deep blue-green lacquer covers the lambskin body. Gold leaf appears within the surface, while metal corners and white rope remain clearly legible as parts of the Malle Gonflée construction.
